Is Hisense TV stuck in standby mode? Simple walkthrough!! (2023)

Hisense smart TVs have been known to get stuck in sleep mode, which means the TV screen turns black and the power light turns orange or red, depending on the model.

Unfortunately, there is a problem with these televisions that has led to a class action lawsuit. And it is very possible that if you bought your TV between 2010 and 2015, your Hisense TV has the following problem: Stuck in standby mode. In other words, when you press "Power", the TV does not respond. It doesn't wake up and it doesn't turn off. It basically gets stuck in sleep mode.

About a year ago, I also had a Hisense TV and this problem was occurring intermittently.

As part of this guide, I'll explain why this happens and how to turn on your Hisense TV when it's stuck on standby. Furthermore, I will also share with you some steps and details to help you prevent this from happening again.

So first, let's start with a simple solution to resolve Hisense TV stuck standby issue.

How to fix Hisense TV stuck on standby?

The following steps can be followed to fix your Hisense TV when it is stuck in standby mode or won't turn on.

Be sure to follow them closely and don't miss the timing part, as well as any of the steps in between.

  1. Turn off the TV by unplugging the power cord
  2. Wait at least 1 hour (60 minutes)
  3. Press and hold the power button (on the TV, not the remote) for 60 seconds
  4. When you plug it back in, press and hold the power button for 60 seconds, then go directly to the outlet, avoiding power strips or surge protectors.

In almost all cases, the first two steps will resolve the waiting issue on your Hisense Smart TV, although I recommend following the third step as well, in case the previous two don't work.

After completing all the above steps, your Hisense TV will reset its power box, wake it up from standby and turn it on.

Hisense TV LED indicator lights, what do they mean?

Since Hisense TV does not have a quick guide or instructions on what these LED indicators on your TV mean, I have prepared them manually so that you know what the lights mean on your Hisense TV and how to tell if something is wrong.

  • What LED indicator is there when the TV is off?
    • When the TV is turned off but connected to a power outlet, the LED light will be solid red

Constant light means that your Hisense TV is receiving power.

  • What LED indicator is there when the TV is on?
    • When your Hisense TV is on, the power LED should light up blue.
  • When the TV is in STANDBY mode, what is the LED indicator?
    • The LED indicator turns red when the Hisense TV is in standby mode.
  • When the TV is turned on, what does the LED screen do?
    • When the Hisense Smart TV starts up, the power indicator first flashes red and then solid blue.
