Hisense smart TVs have been known to get stuck in sleep mode, which means the TV screen turns black and the power light turns orange or red, depending on the model.
Unfortunately, there is a problem with these televisions that has led to a class action lawsuit. And it is very possible that if you bought your TV between 2010 and 2015, your Hisense TV has the following problem: Stuck in standby mode. In other words, when you press "Power", the TV does not respond. It doesn't wake up and it doesn't turn off. It basically gets stuck in sleep mode.
About a year ago, I also had a Hisense TV and this problem was occurring intermittently.
As part of this guide, I'll explain why this happens and how to turn on your Hisense TV when it's stuck on standby. Furthermore, I will also share with you some steps and details to help you prevent this from happening again.
So first, let's start with a simple solution to resolve Hisense TV stuck standby issue.
How to fix Hisense TV stuck on standby?
The following steps can be followed to fix your Hisense TV when it is stuck in standby mode or won't turn on.
Be sure to follow them closely and don't miss the timing part, as well as any of the steps in between.
- Turn off the TV by unplugging the power cord
- Wait at least 1 hour (60 minutes)
- Press and hold the power button (on the TV, not the remote) for 60 seconds
- When you plug it back in, press and hold the power button for 60 seconds, then go directly to the outlet, avoiding power strips or surge protectors.
In almost all cases, the first two steps will resolve the waiting issue on your Hisense Smart TV, although I recommend following the third step as well, in case the previous two don't work.
After completing all the above steps, your Hisense TV will reset its power box, wake it up from standby and turn it on.
